“Putting on Christ'...is not one among many jobs a Christian has to do; and it is not a sort of special exercise for the top class. It is the whole of Christianity. Christianity offers nothing else at all.” - C.S. Lewis

What is God’s purpose for His people? When we receive new life in Jesus, what comes next? The Christian faith is about the full transformation of our lives, through the power of the Holy Spirit, into the likeness of Jesus. In his late 80s, John Stott wrote this:

What is God’s purpose for His people?...as I approach the end of my pilgrimage on earth, and it is—God wants His people to become like Christ. Christlikeness is the will of God for the people of God.”

So then, one of the most important teachings in the life of our church should be: How do we transform to become more like Jesus? The promise is a full transformation of a life found in Jesus. It is a process of daily refinement of our intentions, motives, priorities, relationships and more. If we are walking a path of complete transformation, why are so many of us feeling a disconnect between this promise and reality?

Throughout this series, we will be examining the disciples Jesus called us to be by taking a deeper look at how He lived His life. To put on Christ we need to hear His words, look at His actions and become more like Jesus every day.
